Minnesota man charged with manslaughter, accused of crushing co-worker’s head on job site

NewsA Minnesota man faces manslaughter charges after fatally striking his co-worker's head.Patti Sapone | NJ.com What started out as playing with construction equipment ended with a Minnesota man dead and another man charged with manslaughter.In court documents obtained by KMSP, a Minneapolis-St. Paul television station, Christopher Boone Crimmins, 34, was with co-workers at a tree-trimming site in Plymouth, Minnesota, Thursday, Aug. 20.Crimmins and a 26-year-old co-worker had arrived at the job site early. Crimmins climbed into the truck and began operating a hydraulic grapple while the co-worker picked up branches on the ground. Crimmins told Apple Valley police that he and the co-worker were “(bleep) around” when Crimmins moved the grapple and saw the sunlight was casting shadows of both the grapple and the co-worker.Crimmins decided to make it look like the grapple was grabbing the shadow of the co-worker’s head. However, Crimmins did not see that the grapple had actually come in contact with the man, striking his head.Police arrived at the scene and found the man in a pool of blood with “trauma” to his head and declared him dead. A witness told police that the grapple went toward the man’s head and either pinched it or hit it. Police added that there was blood on the grapple.Crimmins was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter. KMSP reported that Crimmins appeared in court the next day and a judge set bail at $40,000 without conditions or $20,000 with conditions.
