Miley Cyrus Scores First No. 1 in Over a Decade on Albums Chart, While Ella Langley Extends Record on Singles Chart

Miley Cyrus has scored her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in over a decade with her latest, “Bass Persuades.” The singer, who is going mononomously as Miley for this era, bows in the top spot with 61,000 equivalent album units. In a tight race, she landed ahead of Ella Langley‘s “Dandelion,” which holds at No. 2 with “nearly 61,000 units,” reports Billboard, followed by Riley Green at No. 3 with “That’s Just Me,” earning 60,000 units. Over on the Hot 100, Langley continues to mine chart gold as “Choosin’ Texas” earns a 24th week at No. 1, a week after breaking Mariah Carey’s record for most atop the tally with “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Additionally, “Choosin’ Texas” breaks the record for most weeks at No. 1 (19) on the Digital Song Sales chart. Popular on Variety “Bass Persuades” marks Cyrus’ sixth album to lead the Billboard 200, her last being “Bangerz” in 2013, and becomes her 16th overall project to reach the top 10. This makes her the third act in 2026 to have at least a decade between No. 1s, following Bruno Mars with “The Romantic” in March and A$AP Rocky with “Don’t Be Dumb” in January. She initially announced “Bass Persuades” in early September, just weeks before its arrival. “Music takes hold of us,” she wrote on social media in the announcement. “We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album.” Cyrus then released the project’s title song and video as the first single, followed by the album on September 18. Next month, she’ll make a rare return to the stage with a two-night stint at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, performing on October 16 and 18. Model/Actriz, who is featured on “Bass Persuades,” will join her at the shows as a special guest. Rounding out the top five on the Billboard 200 are Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” at No. 4 and Olivia Rodrigo’s “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” at No. 5. Spots six through 10 are Noah Kahan’s “The Great Divide,” Beabadoobee’s “Pylon,” Jhené Aiko’s “Westside Whimsy,” Drake’s “Iceman” and Kahan’s “Stick Season.”
