Now with her new album released yesterday, Miley is planning to return to the stage for her first major concerts in years at the Hollywood Bowl in LA next month — and she plans to rush back home for a kip afterwards. She said: “I chose to do the show at the Bowl because I knew my bed was only going to be a ten-minute drive. “I think I might be doing one of the earliest shows the Bowl has seen. I’m done by 9.30. “I like to eat early, I like to be in my bed early. A big piece of [my sobriety] puzzle is rest and recovery. “It’s impossible to recover when you’re on a rocking bus or a plane.” That rules out the possibility of a world tour. And after 1.5million people queued online to get their hands on just 34,000 tickets for her two shows, she is considering playing a residency at the venue. She said: “I had to do therapy and like The Simpsons thing where he writes over and over again, I had to write, ‘You don’t have to be high to be famous,’ which is what I thought. “My reputation was I’m the party girl and when you come to my show, it’s going to be the craziest night of your life. There was a bit of discomfort going from that person to who I am now.” I can’t blame her, because she was left traumatised by a panic attack on stage in Mexico in 2022 after a “cocktail of chaos,” including the death of her close friend and neighbour, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Miley, who said “a lot of trauma and fear” became linked with performing, explained: “I was playing Mexico post-Covid. It was a 250,000-person crowd. “In hindsight, it was a build-up of a cocktail of chaos — living through a pandemic, one of my closest friends dying, Taylor Hawkins. “He died the day that I landed to play a show with him. Him and I were really close because we were neighbours through Covid. “My plane caught on fire on the way to that show and it was super-terrifying. It’s because there was a storm and we were struck by lightning. “The first person I called was Taylor. He was like, ‘Man, I’m here, it’s raining. But the show’s going to be sick.’ And the next day, he was gone. “I also tested positive for Covid that day. My nervous system was so shot. “I haven’t done shows on that scale since.” Her new album references everything from her relationship with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth on Aftermath, to a family feud which has since been healed on Innocent Ways. And on Snow, she sings about her long-term rocker partner Maxx Morando’s proposal last December in Japan — although it doesn’t mention how much of a self-confessed “brat” she was about it. Recalling a conversation before they took a stroll together, Miley said: “I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to pat him down, I bet he has an engagement ring. This would be the best time.’ “I didn’t find it. I was so angry. I tapped him and he went, ‘If you ruin this for you and for me, I hope you look at yourself for the rest of your life and know that you took this from me.’ So I was like, ‘Fine!’” Speaking about how they then reached a secluded spot, she added: “I turned around and he’s on one knee and says, ‘You’re the love of my life, will you marry me?’ I was like, ‘Oh my God — I almost botched it.’ “He was like, ‘I had to wear these utility pants that had a zipper at the knee.’ I didn’t check the kneecap.” There go the chances of him ever pulling off another surprise for Miley.
