Nearly 1.5 million fans lined up in the pre-sale queue to snag one of the 18,000 seats at the Bowl, so it’s safe to say the Disney Legend is very in demand—and she knows it.During an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe to promote her latest album, Miley admitted that her upcoming shows were the “ultimate dress rehearsal” for a potential residency.“I chose to do the show at the Bowl because I knew that my bed was only going to be like a 10-minute drive home by 11,” she admitted, explaining that she doesn’t play when it comes to her daily routine. “I want nothing to change. It’s just another day, but today I’m playing the Hollywood Bowl.”“I’ve learned now through the queue that my calculations are correct, and people will come to me. I don’t need to drive to you. Proven. That was a test. I win,” she said with her signature humor. However, that particular punchline didn’t necessarily sit well with fans, who have been anticipating a tour since she opted out of one for her last album, Something Beautiful.“This is so annoying we can’t afford to come to her but she can afford to come to us,” one fan wrote, while another expressed their frustrations about the incredibly high demand for her upcoming shows at the Hollywood Bowl.“I literally live 3 mins away from the bowl and I lost the ticket war,” another said, while others came to the pop culture icon’s defense.“I personally don't see the issue, she’s been touring the world since her early teens. all she's saying (if you watch the full interview) is that she doesn't want to do a full scale tour anymore,” someone explained, adding, “that doesn't mean she won't do one off concerts in other parts of the world etc. my thoughts on residency shows, completely get it, treat it as a vacation and go along!”Miley has been transparent with her feelings about touring for a minute now. Back in 2023, she admitted that it felt “unhealthy” for her to take the stage.“If you’re performing at a certain level of intensity and excellence, there should be an equal amount of recovery and rest,” she explained at the time, later adding, “Having every day the relationship between you and other humans being subject and observer isn’t healthy for me, because it erases my humanity and my connection, and without my humanity and my connection I can’t be a songwriter, which is my priority.”Then, while promoting Something Beautiful in 2025, she explained to Zane Lowe that a health issue in her vocal cords affected “how taxing a physical live performance is.”“I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am,” she said, “but it’s extremely difficult to perform with because it’s like running a marathon with ankle weights on.”She further explained, “My voice is super unique because of it, but I do have this Reinke’s Edema and I have this large polyp on my cords and I’m not willing to sever it because the chance of waking up from a surgery and not sounding like myself is a probability.”That being said…why is a potential residency suddenly a surprise?
