Mike Norvell says ‘sky’s the limit’ for Florida State QB Ashton Daniels

Ashton Daniels has incredible upside going into his final year of college football, per Mike Norvell. Daniels previously played for Stanford (three seasons) and Auburn (one season) before electing to play his final campaign in Tallahassee. With the right supporting cast around him Daniels could have a career year ahead of him. He’s been able to see some of the highs and lows of himself. Throughout that, sometimes with a great supporting cast, sometimes you know where he has to do a lot on his own. Even this last year, he graduated from Stanford … In the summer, he was able to go and you know kind of you prepare. But, those last three games you saw a quarterback that went out and you know really put guys in a great position to be successful … You know you saw his progression as a player, but then coming into Tallahassee and what he was able to do this spring, he didn’t come in already ordained as the starting quarterback. And I’m just so pleased with him from what he could do within the pocket, arm talent, you know obviously the people that we have around him is something that’s really exciting, and you know just seeing that you know the investment he’s making within those teammates. I think the sky’s the limit.” Over the course of his career (37 games), Daniels has 4,783 yards, 24 touchdowns, 22 interceptions and a 60.2% completion percentage. On the ground, he has 1,397 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. As a member of the Class of 2022, Daniels was a three-star recruit out of Buford (Ga.) High, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 110 overall prospect in the state, the No. 61 quarterback in the class and the No. 1,060 overall prospect in the class. The doubts are there regarding Daniels. Based on the body of work, you can make the argument he isn’t up to snuff going into this final year. On3’s Andy Staples ranked him outside the Top 10 among QBs in the ACC. “You see that stuff every single day. What separates the best from the worst is how you handle it,” Daniels said, per On3’s Brett McMurphy. “I saw that. I don’t care. What shows is the actions on the field. Using that as bulletin board material? Yeah, that’s in the back of my mind.”
