Mike LaFleur hasn't decided on a starting QB for next week

Published November 1, 2026 05:40 PM Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said he changed quarterbacks during Sunday’s game against the Cowboys because the team needed “a spark.”Gardner Minshew did more than that, rallying the Cardinals to a 33-30 overtime win. The Cardinals scored touchdowns on Minshew’s first four possessions after he replaced Jacoby Brissett with 1:35 remaining in the third quarter and trailing 17-3.He finished 17-of-23 for 188 yards and three touchdowns in his first action of the season.“He did a good job,” LaFleur said of Minshew, via video from the team. “Obviously extended a few plays, stuff like that, but I thought his timing was great. He’s had a lot of success in this league, guys. He’s about as resilient as they come, too. If you ask Gardner Minshew, he’s ready at all times. I thought the guys made some plays for him, and he was getting the ball out of his hands.”LaFleur, though, isn’t ready to commit to Minshew for Week 9. He said he has made no decisions about the Cardinals’ starting quarterback for next week.“I know what the story is going to be, and so does [Brissett], but it was the collective,” LaFleur said.
