Flanagan has followed up his film adaptations of Stephen King's Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck with the first-ever Carrie television series. Summer H. Howell plays the titular character in the eight-episode reimagining of the 1974 novel, which brings the story into the present day and the effects of social media on bullying. While remaining true to the essence of the source material, several notable changes have been teased, beyond the updated time period and inclusion of social media. On Rotten Tomatoes, Carrie has debuted with an 80% Tomatometer score, the second-best for an adaptation of the classic King story. However, the score is based solely on reviews for only the first two episodes, which premiered at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, meaning that the average will definitely fluctuate once full series reviews come in.
