MIC’s Sam Vanderpump reveals fresh ‘blow’ to organ transplant hopes amid end stage liver disease battle

The update comes a matter of months after Sam was forced to hit back against trolls who said he should just “buy” the organ. He shared: “I think where the confusion comes from here, because it has been asked so much, is yes there is private medical care where you can pay for the treatment around organ transplants but you can’t buy organs. It would open up a whole black market for organs.” Sam was born with liver disease, but it laid dormant in his body until he was taken ill in December 2024. The 29-year-old sadly revealed last year that he won’t survive five years without getting a transplant. In the recent documentary Made in Chelsea: Sam Vanderpump’s Story, Sam explained how his liver operates in an abnormal manner. Most read in TV He bravely said: “So congenital hepatic fibrosis, the way I would explain it in layman’s terms would be a normal liver is a smooth filter which filters people’s bloods. “My liver isn’t smooth. It’s quite bumpy and the fibrosis and it’s got a cyst in it and essentially struggling to filter the blood. “And that disease has progressed over 28 years, which has obviously led to the inevitable.” Sam made his Made in Chelsea debut back in April 2024 during season 27 of the show. He is the nephew of reality star Lisa Vanderpump, and married his co-star Alice Yaxley last year. Despite his health battles, Sam welcomed a beautiful baby boy called Marmaduke earlier this year.
