Microsoft is reportedly fixing the really slow Windows 11 context menu, and we can customise it too

The new menu will be more compact, showing common actions at the top. A "Customize" button will let you pick and reorder actions as you please. One of the big things I didn't like about Windows 11 was the right-click context menu. It was slow to open, you couldn't really mess with it, and you kept having to swap between the new menu and the old one to get anything done. Well, if one report is to be believed, that may soon be a thing of the past. Not only is Microsoft reportedly making the right-click context menu snappier, but you can tweak what's on it. Both in terms of speed and in customizability In a report by Windows Central, which cites "sources familiar with Microsoft's plans," the company is planning to revamp how the Windows 11 context menu works. Right now, when you right-click on something, Windows 11 will grab every possible action and every possible third-party action it can do, then stuffs it all into one menu. This isn't great for speed or usability. To keep things working smoothly, this proposed new context menu will be more compact, showing you the most common actions right at the top. If you do like your third-party integrations, Microsoft is also reportedly adding a new "Customize" button. This will let you adjust which apps appear in the menu, and in what order. Windows Central's sources didn't reveal when this update will come, but it should be soon enough. Microsoft is currently in the process of implementing what it calls "Windows K2," which, despite the name, isn't a new version of the operating system. It's a larger initiative to enhance the weaker areas of Windows 11 that went underloved during the big Copilot rollout. As such, not only is this rumor highly probable, but it should arrive pretty soon if it's true.
