Adam Handling, 37, criticised the guests who allowed their children to enter a chicken coop at his restaurant and throw fertilised eggs at a tree. The former MasterChef: The Professionals finalist added that other diners had allowed their dogs to attack and kill a chicken at the Tartan Fox pub near Newquay, Cornwall. He blamed the owners for ignoring signs in the pub to keep dogs on a lead. He said in an Instagram video: 'I have no idea what goes through a kid's head when they're doing it. But you know the thing? I don't understand the parents that allow them sort of children to act that way in public places. 'And for the child it says more about the parent than the child. 'I'm so hurt. I loved them chickens so much - and you had them killed.' The unruly guests were enjoying a Sunday lunch at the pub, costing £42 for two courses or £49 for three. The Scottish chef plans to install CCTV and motion sensors to protect his chickens and their eggs. While Mr Handling has no evidence of who smashed the eggs he said that only an 'extremely small adult' or child could get inside the coop. The chicken coop is protected by two layers of fencing but chickens were allowed to freely roam the grounds whenever possible in the three-acre pub. Mr Handling opened his flagship restaurant, Frog, in Covent Garden, London, nearly ten years ago. It has since been awarded a Michelin star. The Ugly Butterfly in Newquay, another restaurant he owns, was also awarded a Michelin star. He was appointed MBE in the 2024 New Year Honours for services to hospitality. So when they see humans, these wonderful little things come running at you, they’ll peck your shoes. It’s not like when we were children. For me, it’s lack of education and lack of parenting. The kids would have had to have been away from the table for some time.'In 2024, chef Hugh Corcoran started a furious row after accusing customers of 'window dining' by sharing plates and not ordering drinks.Hugh Corcoran, who runs the Yellow Bittern on London's Caledonian Road, launched an angry rant on Instagram saying that sharing plates have 'ruined dining' and that it's 'not worth opening' for people only willing to spend '£25 a head'.
