Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma impresses on Goodwood jockey debut just days after suffering a nasty fall in training

GEMMA OWEN impressed as she debuted as a jockey at Glorious Goodwood’s Magnolia Cup. But the combined talents of Owen, 26, and Palmer were not enough to lead the pack. The race went to Imaan Rasul-Healer, riding Khor Al Adaid to first place by a length. Owen’s achievement on her debut was made all the more impressive by the fact that she had suffered a nasty fall during her training just a week earlier. She told Racing TV on Wednesday: “Prep’s been… It’s been intense. “Not going to lie, I had a fall a week ago today, and yeah… A bit sore, bruises, but nothing’s broken so the show goes on. But she still managed to wow in an elegant outfit by Holland Cooper. The Magnolia Cup is a charity event that gives female leaders from the worlds of business, sport, fashion and media the chance to compete on one of racing’s most iconic stretches. The event raises funds for Education Above All, a foundation established to help provide education and employment opportunities around the globe.
