Deadline has exclusively reported that Michael Keaton and Morgan Freeman are reuniting for the first time since 1988's Clean and Sober. The two beloved actors are set to co-star in Rode to Ruin, a Western thriller written by R. Dean McCreary which Keaton will also direct. In the upcoming film, Keaton will star as a retired Marshal named Henry Tillman alongside Freeman, who has been cast as Joseph Mulberry, an aging outlaw. The movie's story will focus on a U.S. Marshal who has spent 40 years searching for his wife's killer only to be led to an old outlaw who is losing his memory. After he recently filmed his first scene with Robert De Niro, Keaton told Deadline what drew him to Rode to Ruin and working with Freeman again. "When I first read it, I thought, this is really good – and there’s more here for Morgan and me to mine together. Once we talked, it became clear we were on the same page. Just as The Shawshank Redemption isn’t simply a prison movie, Rode to Ruin isn’t simply a Western. It’s a story with a lot of layers that happens to unfold in the West. " Check out Keaton's comments below: More to come...
