Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae has been taken to hospital after an incident in Dublin city centre on Wednesday afternoon.The Independent TD is said to be recovering in St Vincent’s hospital, Dublin after gardaí called an ambulance to Kevin Street Garda station. Healy-Rae was reportedly assaulted after his car was stopped in traffic in Dublin city centre, and he was brought to the Garda station by members of the Garda.Danny Healy-Rae told The Irish Times that it was a worrying incident and was sorry to hear that his brother had been assaulted.READ MORE“I hope that it is a little thing and that he will be all right in a day or two,” said Healy-Rae who was told about the incident by reporters. He said he was glad that his brother was close to a hospital after the assault where he could get early treatment.Saying he was shocked to hear of it, Healy-Rae said that TDs were now operating in a very different world. “It’s not like it was in years gone by. Now, when you come into Leinster House at eight in the morning there are barriers up, ” he said.Michael Healy-Rae was in Leinster House earlier on Wednesday and is understood to have been on his way home when the incident occurred.More to follow ...
