Fassbender recently starred in movies like The Killer (2023), Black Bag (2025), and Hope (2026), but he made a big splash in the world of television in 2024 with the release of The Agency on Paramount+ with Showtime. The espionage show serves as an American remake of French series The Bureau, and it returned for its sophomore outing in June. Now, about four months removed from The Agency's season 2 premiere, the show is returning next month in the form of a physical media release. Per a new listing on Amazon UK, the season 1 Blu-ray and DVD will be released on Monday, November 23. Pre-orders for these versions of the show are now live. No listing for the show's Blu-ray release is up on Amazon.com, but one will likely appear in the coming weeks. The upcoming Blu-ray release of season 1 comes as The Agency season 3 remains unconfirmed. Though no official renewal has arrived just yet, the show was previously reported to be a likely contender for a renewal. How the recent Paramount and Warner Bros. merger affects the show's future, however, remains to be seen. Fassbender leads The Agency as Martian, a CIA agent who is ordered to return to his station after working under deep cover. Also starring Richard Gere, Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston, and John Magaro, the show earned somewhat lukewarm reviews in its debut season, but was warmly received in its second. The Agency season 2 has a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to season 1's 66%. Despite the stronger critical reception to season 2, it's unclear whether the sophomore outing will also be getting a physical media release in the future. The season 1 release will feature three discs housing all ten of the season's 10 episodes. Season 2 also consists of 10 episodes. Created by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth, The Agency represents Fassbender's most notable TV show to date. The actor previously appeared in episodes of The Devil's Mistress, Trial and Retribution, Poirot, Murphy's Law, and Band of Brothers. Fassbender's TV work is also set to continue outside of The Agency with a miniseries called Kennedy, in which he plays Joe Kennedy Sr. Also coming up for Fassbender are movies like Kung Fury 2, Night Boat to Tangier, and The Origin of the World, affirming that he will remain a presence in the world of film. With Ridley Scott recently teasing that he has a third Alien prequel film in development, Fassbender may also return to his role as David, 14 years after first playing the android in Prometheus (2012). Many questions remain about The Agency's future, but the upcoming Blu-ray release of season 1 represents a major win for the series, and it will give viewers the opportunity to own the show without paying an ongoing subscription fee. Strong sales for this release would likely only help the chances of season 2 getting its own physical media version, as well as the chances of season 3 getting the green light. Release Date December 1, 2024 Network Paramount+ with Showtime Showrunner Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth Directors Joe Wright, Zetna Fuentes, Neil Burger
