Jordan is an actor, producer, and director who rose to fame through titles such as The Sopranos, The Wire, and All My Children. Through the Creed movie series, with Creed III being his feature directorial debut, the actor continued to reach new heights. After appearing in the MCU's Black Panther in 2018, Jordan then starred in Ryan Coogler's Sinners as the twin brothers Smoke and Stack, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor. After his celebrated win, the actor is returning for a whole new kind of role. New set photos and videos show Jordan on the set of the revival of a 42-year-old crime franchise. Jordan, joined by actor Austin Butler, is set to star in Miami Vice '85, directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski. Jordan is taking on the role of Ricardo Tubbs, with Butler portraying Sonny Crockett. The set photos show Jordan for the first time on set, wearing a grey suit with a black shirt and holding a pistol on the streets of Miami, where production is currently underway. The Miami Vice franchise began in 1984 with Anthony Yerkovich and Michael Mann starring Don Johnson as Detective James "Sonny" Crockett and Philip Michael Tomas as Detective Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs. The franchise revolutionized the crime genre with high-end sports cars, pastel fashion, and bringing new life to Miami Beach's historic Art Deco architecture. It was later adapted into a feature film directed by Mann, released in 2006. The 2006 movie starred Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, but unfortunately was not a critical hit and failed to revitalize the franchise despite having Mann onboard. Choose the movie with the higher Rotten Tomatoes score. The cast for Miami Vice '85 is stacked with Hollywood icons, including The Odyssey's John Leguizamo, Walton Goggins, Whitney Peak, Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, and Danny Ramirez. Previously released set photos showed the likes of Leguizamo and Goggins on the set of the revival movie dressed in fashion made famous by the original franchise released on NBC. There have been no plot details revealed as of yet, including particular character details.
