Meta brings Muse AI to iPad, says Windows support is coming soon

Meta is moving fast. Just one month after launching its Muse AI assistant for smartphones, the company has rolled out a dedicated app for the iPad.If you remember how long it took Instagram to get an iPad app (nearly 15 years!), this one-month turnaround shows exactly how big of a priority AI is for Meta right now. And if you prefer working on a PC, there is good news: Meta has also confirmed that a Windows version is coming soon. Why are people downloading it?The app is already a massive hit. Since it dropped on September 8, Muse has been installed over 6.6 million times, according to data from Sensor Tower. The main reason for its popularity is that Muse isn't just another chatbot that you simply talk to. It is an "agent." That means it actually gets things done. Instead of just asking it how to book a flight, Muse can go ahead and book it for you. It can manage your calendar, pay bills, or draft and send emails. It does all of this securely in the background using its own isolated cloud space, called "Muse Secure VM." Meta claims you don't need to worry about it going rogue; Muse is programmed to always ask for your permission before doing anything sensitive, like spending your money or sending an important message.Plugging into your work and shoppingTo make Muse actually useful, Meta lets you plug the AI directly into the apps you already use every day. With the iPad update, they added a bunch of new work tools, including Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Zoom, Asana, Notion, and Granola. Meta is also teaching Muse to shop for you at major retailers like Walmart, Sephora, Gap, and Best Buy. However, there is a slight bump in the road. Right now, a lot of shopping websites mistake Muse for a malicious spam bot and block it from buying things. To fix this, Meta is working with industry partners to create a new "open standard." Essentially, this will work like a digital verification badge, helping websites easily distinguish your legitimate personal assistant from a harmful spam bot. With Muse now available on smartphones, Macs, iPads, the web, and even inside WhatsApp, Meta is making sure its smart assistant is always just a tap away, no matter what device you are using.- Ends
