TELLY presenter Mel Giedroyc has revealed the mortifying moment she followed through at a busy train station. After waking up in the morning horrendously hungover, the former Great British Bake Off host discovered the sad news and made her way to the train station to reunite with her family. Mel replied: “I totally agree with you.” Elsewhere in the podcast, Mel revealed she was on the brink of quitting Bake Off on the first day of the job over the brutal filming conditions. She admitted that contestants had been left in tears, giving her no choice but to speak out. Looking back on the beginning of the programme, Mel said: “Day one, series one – I phoned my agent and I said, ‘I want out of this’.” “I’ve never done this before in my life but it had been an 18 hour shoot and everyone was in tears. I just thought, ‘I’ve never worked like this before’. “There was a bit of a summit meeting where I spoke up and I just said, ‘this is not the kind of show that we want to make. Mel admitted she made it “very clear” to production that change was required in order to make the type of show they were committed to creating. Mel shot to fame alongside Sue Perkins after their comedy double act garnered attention at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. They hosted their own Channel 4 chat show, Light Lunch, from 1997 to 1998 before finally being hired to co-host The Great British Bake Off. Comment now
