Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s 2026 Christmas Plans Revealed by Source, and They Don’t Include the Royals

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly staying in England for Christmas, and apparently have zero plans to spend the holiday with the royal family in Sandringham. Not exactly a huge surprise, considering the Sussexes haven’t reunited with the royals since moving back to the United Kingdom.A source tells Rob Shuter that “They want to show that royalty doesn’t need a palace, a grand ballroom, or an extravagant banquet. They want to be seen as modern, accessible, and connected to everyday people. This is the direction they’re taking.”The insider somewhat dramatically adds that “The King can have his palaces, gold, and traditions. Harry and Meghan can offer something completely different. They want people comparing the two.”Sources previously reported that Meghan and Harry were not expecting a Christmas invite from the royals, and that it would be too “awkward” given their longtime estrangement. “For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will do whatever Doria wants to do. They would love her to come over to the UK and spend it with them here, but they will be wherever she wants to be,” an insider told The Times back in October. “They won’t be having Christmas with the royal family. How could that even work? They know it would be too awkward and too difficult. They also know they’re not going to be invited, and they’re not waiting for an invitation.”Presumably, the Sussexes will reunite with the extended royal family at some point, but it looks like Christmas ’tis not the season.
