Meghan IS still in talks to star in The Gentlemen and make Netflix ‘lots of money’ despite claims she’d been axed

THE Duchess of Sussex is still in talks to star in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen — despite claims she had been axed after a public backlash. Netflix bosses are eager to feature Meghan’s screen comeback but no formal agreement has been reached. It comes after esteemed royal author Tina Brown claimed Meghan had been dropped from the project, writing: “The backlash was so intense it became untenable to go forward.” Last week we told, left, that the Duchess was in talks to play a ­temptress in Netflix’s action-comedy series about an aristocratic family who turn to crime. The hugely-popular first series in 2024 was even advertised with the slogan “every heir needs a spare”, echoing Harry and brother William. The show features Ritchie hallmarks such as underworld thugs, drugs, sex, murders and very strong language. Meghan, who we revealed last week is returning to the UK imminently with Harry and their two children, also has a strong relationship with Netflix. In 2022, the former Suits star said she had no ­intention of going back to acting, telling Variety ­magazine: “I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.” But ongoing talks for a role in The Gentlemen is understood to be one of the factors that helped the Sussexes decide their move back to Britain. One of her potential co-stars Chanel Cresswell — who plays Tammy — posted online jokes about Harry and Meghan’s ­wedding in 2018. 4 comments4
