Hong/The Associated PressCanadian phenom Summer McIntosh kicked off the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships with some hardware on Wednesday.The 19-year-old from Toronto took silver in the women’s 200-metre freestyle, touching in one minute 53.86 seconds on the first day of the international competition.Lani Pallister of Australia finished first with a time of 1:53.67 and New Zealand’s Erika Fairweather came in third at 1:55.05.Also on Wednesday, Canada’s Taylor Ruck captured bronze in the women’s 50-metre butterfly with a time of 25.23 seconds.The four-time Olympic medallist from Kelowna, B.C., followed up with another third-place finish in the women’s 100-metre backstroke later in the day.On the men’s side, Saskatoon’s Blake Tierney won gold in the men’s 100-metre backstroke, topping the field with a time of 53.18 seconds.
