The fast-food giant announced Tuesday that Spicy Chicken McNuggets are returning to participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide starting Sept. 1, but only for a limited time.“We’re so back. And just as spicy as ever,” a news release said. “Fans ready to bring the heat can sink their teeth into Spicy Chicken McNuggets, a hot take on our classic Chicken McNuggets.” Breaded in a spicy tempura coating made with a blend of aged cayenne and chili peppers, the variant of the chain’s iconic McNuggets have been popular when they’ve periodicly returned to menus. The spicy nuggets debuted in 2020 and returned for a limited time in February 2021 and September 2023. Customers who want to take the dish up a notch can add McDonald’s Mighty Hot Sauce, which features crushed red pepper, spicy chilis, savory garlic and a hint of sweetness.This saucy little number is everything and more,” a news release said. “Don’t wait, get this combo while it’s hot.” McDonald’s, which operates more than 40,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries worldwide, has had success bringing back old favorites to its menu. Earlier this year, its iconic fried apple pie returned. The chain also recently released a new seasonal coffee flavor, Caramel Apple Pie, which is now available at participating restaurants nationwide.McDonald’s has also been rapidly expanding its drink options as of late.
