MCC inspects Outer Ring Road ahead of mega cleanliness drive

Savita during the inspection of Outer Ring Road in Mysuru on Wednesday ahead of the mega cleanliness drive on October 1. | Photo Credit: M.A. Sriram Ahead of the mega cleanliness drive planned across Mysuru on October 1 as part of the Centre-sponsored “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner M.K. Savita on Wednesday led a comprehensive inspection of the Outer Ring Road to assess cleanliness and civic infrastructure.The inspection began at 7 a.m. from Hinkal junction and covered nearly 42 km of the Outer Ring Road towards Manipal Hospital.During the inspection, officials assessed roadside cleanliness, solid waste and construction and demolition (C & D) waste, overgrown weeds and bushes, drains and UGD infrastructure, road conditions, streetlights and other civic issues. Ms. Savita directed the officials concerned to take necessary corrective measures at the respective locations.MCC Additional Commissioner Veena B.N., Superintendent Engineer Sindhu, executive and assistant executive engineers, environmental engineers, junior engineers, health inspectors and officials and staff from the concerned zones participated in the inspection. Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were also present, and coordination between the agencies was discussed.As part of preparations for the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” mega cleanliness drive on October 1, the MCC plans to deploy 20 backhoe loaders (JCBs), 25 tippers and 17 dozers along nearly 33 km of identified cleanliness routes within its jurisdiction.The Commissioner directed the MCC, NHAI and neighbouring urban local bodies to coordinate their efforts to keep the Outer Ring Road clean, attractive and free of waste.
