MBBS counselling in Andhra Pradesh: candidates advised to opt for all available colleges

Giri Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTRUHS) has suggested that students participating in MBBS counselling opt for a maximum number of colleges or all available colleges as options in the order of their choices to increase chances of getting a seat.Addressing the media at the university in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Vice-Chancellor P. Chandrasekhar and Registrar T. Sai Sudheer clarified that reports claiming that some candidates were not allotted colleges according to their ranks in the first phase of counselling were not true. Seat allotments are made based on candidates’ ranks, availability of seats, and the college options registered by the candidates, the V-C said.They said that during the first phase, some candidates from reserved categories submitted only a limited number of options. As a result, they received reservation-category seats only in the colleges they had specifically opted for. At the same time, some candidates who selected more colleges received seats under the open category;,they said and urged candidates to opt for as many colleges as possible.Giving details about the counselling process, they said the Phase-I counselling for seats under the Convenor Quota has been completed and that the final allotments were released on September 2. Of the total of 4,581 seats under the quota, 4,321 seats were allotted, of which 4,231 candidates reported at their allotted colleges by the cut-off date while 90 candidates did not report.At present, All India Quota, part of the Phase-II counselling, is underway. After its completion on September 11, counselling under the State Quota may begin on the same day. Candidates will have an opportunity to exercise fresh options of their choices during this second and further phases, they said. MBBS classes will commence from September 15.
