Maya Jama’s Role in ‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2 Is Just as Iconic as She Is

T he Gentlemen is back! Two years after its inaugural season, Guy Ritchie's hit Netflix drama has returned for another season of drug lords, aristocrats, and secrets. And this time around there's a very familiar face taking center stage as Maya Jama takes on a role in the series.The series follows Theo James as Eddie Horniman, the 13th Duke of Halstead, who has joined forces with the Glass family that is running a cannabis empire on the grounds of his estate. Alongside Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), Eddie is heading to Italy this season in the hopes of expanding the pair's growing empire. But can he really handle it? She's introduced during a hunt arranged at the Duke's estate as a friend of Susie's.Susie tells the Duke Aisha is a "clever girl" who "looks after herself and everyone who comes within her orbit." Aisha is revealed to be working with the Prince Amir bin Abdullah al-Hadidi, after moving to the Middle East five years prior.She also appears again in episode four while working alongside the Sheikh Khaled Suliman.NetflixWhat has Maya Jama said about being in The Gentlemen? At the start of the year Maya Jama opened up about working with series director Guy Ritchie, telling Variety the filmmaker was really kind to work with."He doesn’t feel as intimidating as you’d think, being who he is. He’s very personable and he would be like, ‘Yeah, you’re doing well’, and reassure me, which was really nice," she said. "He’s just really involved and kind of a genius to watch, because everyone’s practicing their lines and then he says something that’s way better than the original."And during the series' premiere in London on September 2, Maya teased that her character was a "boss" while speaking to the BBC and added the role was a nice transition into the world of acting."I felt like if I was to be involved in the drug world my character would be quite like me anyway, so it was a nice easy breeze into it.
