Masterchef star Marcus Wareing reveals real reason for his ‘fallout’ with Gordon Ramsay

MASTERCHEF judge Marcus Wareing has lifted the lid on his fallout with fellow telly chef Gordon Ramsay. The pair famously worked incredibly close together with Marcus working with Gordon at his different restaurants. They didn’t speak for 16 years until quietly reconnecting earlier this year. Now, Marcus has opened up on the feud and insisted their fallout happened “naturally” as opposed to being one or the other’s agenda. They were pals for years when they worked together Credit: Rex Marcus has now spoken on their fallout Credit: Darren Fletcher In a new podcast interview, Marcus said: “No one facilitated anything in a fallout. “it just naturally happened. “I wanted to be in [Gordon’s] shoes and you can’t be in his shoes, they are too big. “I was his first employee but the company got bigger and bigger and I could see that I was a fish in a pond.” Most read in TV He went on to reveal that a conversation he had with Gordon highlighted difficulties in working together. Marcus said: “It was outlined to me that ‘your management skills need to change’. “‘You are destroying yourself – my business, his business, if you are not careful, you will hit a brick wall’.” Despite their clash, Marcus did go on to say: “That was one of the loveliest things about Gordon – he always gave you his time.” The pair reunited earlier this year when it was confirmed that Gordon’s production company would be behind Marcus’ latest BBC Two series. Marcus said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Gordon again. It’s been many years since we last shared a kitchen, and I can’t wait to get started. “I’m really looking forward to unwrapping the memories from our cooks and taking them on a journey down memory lane.” Marcus explained the concept behind the daytime series, which has yet to receive a working title and probably won’t air until 2027. He said: “The purpose of the show is to help chefs improve by mastering the simplest things done well, because that’s where the real magic lies. Recreating dishes from memories or inspired by loved ones can be truly life-changing and have a lasting impact on their future.” Comment now
