Mass 10-person brawl on easyJet flight to UK forces plane to turn back to Tenerife for emergency landing

A MASSIVE brawl between eight Brits erupted on an easyJet flight to the UK – forcing the plane to turn back and emergency land in Tenerife. The scuffle, involving six children and two adults, broke out on a Liverpool-bound aircraft last night before it returned to the holiday hotspot. The fight was so intense that the pilot had to turn back due to the “danger this posed to the safety of the flight”, authorities said. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Flight tracking data shows the jet returned to the same airport at 9:05pm. It is not clear whether the passengers accused of being in the fight were British, or if any were arrested. An easyJet spokesperson said: “Flight EZY3352 from Tenerife to Liverpool yesterday returned to the airport and was met by police due to a group of passengers behaving disruptively.” They added that the flight later continued onto its final destination. “We take these incidents very seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour towards our staff,” the spokesperson added. “The safety and wellbeing of customers and crew is always our highest priority.” Most read in The Sun Spanish air traffic authorities said: “The crew of the flight from Tenerife South to Liverpool informed us, after about 30 minutes in the air, that they needed to return to the airport and requested a police presence upon arrival. “A group of around 10 passengers had started a fight on board, and the captain decided to turn back because of the danger this posed to the safety of the flight.” They added: “We expedited their return as much as possible while coordinating with the airport to ensure a police presence. “They landed and vacated runway 07 without incident. “Our full support goes to the crews and passengers who are having to endure these situations more and more often.” A spokesperson for the Civil Guard confirmed all those involved were British but said no arrests had been made. They said: “Eight people were removed from the plane who had been travelling together, two adults and six minors. “What appears to have happened is that a heated discussion started in the airport terminal between two families before they boarded the plane and those problems obviously continued on the plane which is why it turned back. “We’re not aware of any physical fighting on board. “No arrests took place but all eight people taken off the plane have been identified. All eight are British nationals.” It comes after shocking footage showed the extraordinary moment an easyJet captain wrestled a boozed-up passenger to the floor on a holiday jet. The white-shirted hero pilot and a brave crew member tussled with the allegedly drunken yob in the rear galley of a packed plane. And in May, a drunk man and woman were arrested on an easyJet plane from Gatwick to Antalya in Turkey. Passengers said the woman was swigging from a bottle of vodka, spat at someone and that there was a fight. The man allegedly bragged he had been in jail and said anyone moaning about them would be killed. 5 comments5
