Mary In The Junkyard – “Jane”

In July, Band To Watch Mary In The Junkyard released their stunning debut album Role Model Hermit. Today, they're back with another new single "Jane," that continues the group's streak of stilling rock ballads."Jane" has that effect partly because there are no drums. The song centers around Clari Freeman-Taylor's soft vocals and Saya Barbaglia's comforting violin melody. Lyrically, it's intimate and unexpected. In a press release, the band shared that the song "is about my period (Jane) who is annoying and too honest. You might find it satisfying if you have those circumstances."With that lens in mind, certain lines come to the surface like firework epiphanies: "You speak in such an urgent way/ Soft and sane/ You’re more of a woman than me" or "And you sometimes don’t speak at all/ That’s okay/ I’m just a boy most days."
