Sign in to your TheGamer account Marvel’s Wolverine debuted to lower review scores than many might have expected last week. That led to days of discourse about fart trails and QTEs. Hopefully that discourse is behind us now that the game is here and players seem to like Wolverine, and I mean really like it. Wolverine Is A Hit With Players Insomniac Insomniac’s latest superhero game is well into its second day, and thousands of you who have played Wolverine on PS5 have already seen enough that you feel confident enough to leave it a rating on the PlayStation Store. 17,812 of you, to be exact, and 92% of you have given the game five stars. High praise indeed. That leaves the game on an average rating of 4.84 stars out of a possible five. You don’t need me to tell you that’s pretty darn impressive. More impressive than the 79 it wound up with on OpenCritic. That said, it is worth reminding everyone that 79 isn’t a bad score. It has just proved noteworthy and controversial as it isn’t up to Insomniac’s typically high standard, and PlayStation needs its biggest releases to hit harder than that when there are only two or three of them a year. Wolverine Is Insomniac's Highest-Rated Game On The PlayStation Store Insomniac/PlayStation PlayStation and Insomniac will likely be breathing a sigh of relief right about now upon having it confirmed that Wolverine’s user scores don’t align with its reviews. In fact, as it stands, Wolverine has a higher rating than any other Insomniac game currently available on the PlayStation Store. Its score is not only higher than Ratchet & Clank and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (the latter of which has the next best star rating for Insomniac after Wolverine, by the way), but it also has a better rating than any of the Spider-Man games. The first Spidey game has a score of 4.69, Miles Morales a 4.53, and Spider-Man 2 is the highest of the series with a 4.72. The caveat here is that Wolverine has a long way to go until its score starts to settle somewhere, as it has done for all three Spidey games. That means a lot more reviews, and the need for a lot more people to think this latest Insomniac game is worthy of all five PS Store stars. The first Spider-Man game has almost 300,000 ratings, its sequel 258,000, and Miles is a little short of 200,000, hovering around the 186k mark. My guess is Wolverine will eventually pull the same number of star ratings as Miles, maybe slightly less. If it still got a higher aggregate user score than every other Insomniac game at that point, then it will be quite the achievement.
