Although Marvel’s Spider-Man fans are no strangers to taking issue with Insomniac’s takes on iconic suits, I don’t think anyone was expecting yet another costume controversy to spark up nearly three years after Spider-Man 2 originally released. And yet, that’s exactly what happened this week after a surprisingly divisive new update. Despite being added to the game for free, Spider-Man 2 players instantly tore the Brand New Day suit to shreds, with many complaining about the clearly incorrect colour grading, lack of detailed textures, and the complete omission of battle damage. If you’re as annoyed about it as most of the community, a new mod might be the perfect fix until Insomniac makes some changes. As Long As You Don’t Mind Spidey Being More Jacked Image and mod credit: passk8 Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 wasn’t the only game to celebrate the launch of Brand New Day, as Fortnite also marked the occasion with a special Spidey-themed event. Fortnite’s event notably came with its take on the Brand New Day suit, which is far and away an improvement over what Insomniac gave us. Fortnite’s version of the Brand New Day suit has the proper red and blue colour grading, more fitting textures, and simply pops a lot more than Insomniac’s version. Thankfully, you don’t need to be jealous of Fortnite players for long, as Nexus Mods users passk8 and MattBTW have done god’s work and ported that version of the suit over to the PC version of Spider-Man 2. The mod, fittingly titled “Fortnite Brand New Day Port”, does exactly what it says on the tin and brings Fortnite’s charming Brand New Day suit over to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, complete with a noticeably more jacked Peter. It’s a simple mod and not the first of its kind considering how great Fortnite’s designs are, but it’s still a breath of fresh air with the ongoing backlash. Of course, anyone playing Spider-Man 2 on PS5 is sadly going to be stuck with the much duller suit until Insomniac hopefully decides to address the complaints.
