Marvel’s New Deadpool Officially Debuts August 6

It is hard to believe that there was a time before Ryan Reynolds brought his cheeky charm to the role of Deadpool, but with the wisecracking mercenary first appearing way back in 1991's The New Mutants #98, the character has lived a lot of lives before Reynolds donned the mask back in 2009 during X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Going onto star in his own dedicated movies: Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018), and, more recently, Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), the R-rated superhero has become a household name, and whilst the solo movies may have seemingly come to an end, Reynolds is not hanging up the suit just yet, with plans for Deadpool to appear in other upcoming Marvel projects. Until then, however, it seems as though the story of Deadpool is set to continue, but this time, it will not be Reynolds at the helm but luckily, fans seem pleased with the brand-new casting. Set to launch in just two days, on 6 August, Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls is a fighting game set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and developed by Arc System Works. Published by Sony, this fighting game will task players with assembling their teams of iconic Marvel heroes and villains in order to take part in 4v4 tag team battles. With multiple modes to get stuck into, unique move sets, combos, and strategies to master, and superheroes and villains to unlock, this fighting game is a must-play for the Marvel lovers out there. In recent months, Arc System Works and Sony took to YouTube to share the latest batch of characters arriving to the game, including the likes of Ghost Rider, Loki, and Blade. However, on top of this handsome bunch, Deadpool was also unveiled, and it seems as though prolific actor Nolan North will be stepping into the role of the loudmouthed mercenary. Best known for his roles as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted franchise and more recently, Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Rivals, North previously took on the role of Wade Wilson in Midnight Suns. As no stranger to the character, it seemed as though fans were over the moon to see his return, and took to the YouTube comments and r/Fighters to share their thoughts. "Glad Nolan North is Deadpool again. I own the Deadpool pinball machine, and he is hilarious on that one," one comment read. Another said, "My glorious king, Deadpool! I expected Alejandro Saab but having Nolan North as his voice again is sweet." With fans praising Deadpool's artstyle, as well as those iconic poses he is hitting in the reveal trailer, it seems as though Arc System Works already has a hit on its hands with the launch of Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls.
