Marvel’s Daredevil Game Getting MCU Fans Hyped After Disney+ Show

For whatever reason, Marvel has seemingly refused to embrace Daredevil wholly in the last decade. Daredevil has been an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the beginning of the Netflix Daredevil series, but even the show itself couldn’t lean into the fact that it was woven into a connected universe more explicitly, for better or worse. Likewise, there still hasn’t been a AAA Daredevil video game besides the 2003 movie’s beat-’em-up tie-in game, despite how popular the character is. Marvel will forever be shooting itself in the foot if it doesn’t indulge in a Daredevil game, and Daredevil may very well be the Marvel character that fans want to see a standalone, single-player game about most. So where is our brand-new Daredevil game, and how might it play? Fans have wanted one for ages, and Marvel is losing daylight by not capitalizing on MCU synergy when it’d be the strongest. On Reddit, fans are discussing all the ways they think a Daredevil game could be special. User Bioger wants a Daredevil game with “Sifu-inspired combat,” while user Hate_Paper_Doll wants to see gameplay be “a mix between Arkham and Phoenix Wright.” The Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney callout here is particularly brilliant, as a Daredevil game with intermittent courtroom drama segments could make it incredibly dynamic, especially if players were given dialogue options and the verdict in each case had an impact on the story. In that same vein, users like CrazyMoist9397 and ComicCarTuneZ believe Telltale would be the perfect developer for a Daredevil game. Obviously, on paper, Daredevil would be a fantastic character to adapt into a AAA game. Unlike Marvel’s Wolverine, a Daredevil game could even have stylish and smooth open-world traversal. It might not be as fluid as soaring from Queens to Brooklyn on web wings in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but fluid enough, with players using a billy club to grapple and flip along Hell’s Kitchen’s skyline. Unless Marvel secretly has a Daredevil game in development, however, we have no reason to think that we’ll get one anytime soon. That said, a Daredevil game doesn’t seem to be an impossibility. On one hand, Marvel is committing to a game as unique and compelling as Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, but, on the other hand, it’s not afraid to adapt iconic Marvel characters as popular as Wolverine, Blade, or Iron Man.
