Marvel TV Boss Says Daredevil: Born Again Was Always Meant to End With Season 3, Despite Previously Suggesting OtherwiseThe end of an era.Head of Marvel Television Brad Winderbaum says Daredevil: Born Again was always planned to end with Season 3, despite previously suggesting otherwise. In a new interview with The Brandon Davis Show, Winderbaum was asked about Season 3 being the end of the show. He noted that the plan was "always to culminate at [Season] 3," despite the news of the show ending coming as a surprise to fans.“The plan was always to culminate at 3, because the way we’re looking at it, the original [Netflix] series is 3 seasons, Born Again is 3 seasons. They’re kind of like trade paperbacks or collections that you can slot into your shelves, like these are two 3-volume sets, and then we will take a breath and figure out what’s next for the character.”Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Set PhotosActor Charlie Cox also suggested the same thing at New York Comic-Con, telling GamesRadar that there was a "bit more planning and emotional support" this time. The original Netflix series was unexpectedly and unceremoniously canceled, much to the surprise of the show's writers and cast. However, at some point, the actors were told Born Again would serve as the finale.Interestingly, Winderbaum told Screen Rant in 2025 that the show was meant to be annualized, with a new season dropping every March. "That is the plan," said Winderbaum ahead of Season 1 of Born Again. "Season 2 will come out next year, and then hopefully Season 3 and Season Infinity after that. I think this world is extremely rich, and there are many stories to be told on the streets of New York."Of course, plans may have changed if Disney and Marvel realized the viewership wasn't there. It sounds like, at the very least, the show didn't abruptly have the plug pulled after filming wrapped on Season 3. Even if the show ending with Season 3 wasn't the plan from the very beginning of Born Again's run, it may have shifted in that direction during the development and writing of the third season. Whether Daredevil will return in a future MCU project remains to be seen, but fans still want to see the Man Without Fear team up with Spidey. Cox himself is uncertain of Daredevil's future, but has urged fans to campaign to bring the character back."Don't know, man. I don't know," he said when asked whether or not he's done as Daredevil. "I mean, it might be. It might be. Don't worry about Kevin [Feige]. Get the Save Daredevil campaign on the horn. Get them motivated. That engine, that won't stop until there's some resolution. That's my true superpower, is the Save Daredevil campaign!"Cade Onder is a freelancer for IGN's news team. He covers all things entertainment, including gaming, film, and more.
