Jean Grey is the poster child for the cycle of death and resurrection, though other heroes like Charles Xavier and Quentin Quire have become synonymous with death. Looking ahead to the grand finale of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, the X-Men are likely to face a catastrophic mass casualty event in Avengers: Doomsday, possibly serving as the ultimate narrative lambs to Doctor Doom's slaughter of their universe. After all, given that Marvel Studios needs to wipe the slate clean before the MCU introduces its new generation of X-Men actors, the annihilation of the Fox X-Men universe presents the perfect opportunity to raise the stakes to an unprecedented degree. Unfortunately, the most likely candidate is Beast, the present-day Hank McCoy, who may need to sacrifice his life to defeat his future self, the villainous "Chairman" behind 3K who has been trying to bring the Age of Revelation's legacy into the present canon. The X-Men's Next Death Gives The Team An Unexpected Leader Magneto Goes From The Verge Of Death To the Forefront Of The X-Men's Battles For months, Magneto has been on the absolute brink of physical collapse, burdened by a degenerative sickness that severely compromised his electromagnetic abilities. Hank McCoy seeks the help of Reed Richards to save Magneto's life, and Mister Fantastic refuses to save the Master of Magnetism for moral reasons. However, Magneto is officially set to return, and he's confirmed to join the X-Men in a crossover with the Fantastic Four in the upcoming X-Men #41. The Master of Magnetism's dramatic return to action becomes instantly critical now that X-Men #42 teases the death of a major team member, with no Krakoan Resurrection Protocols left to undo the loss. With Charles Xavier officially removed from the board, the X-Men's next casualty creates a void that forces Magneto to step up and guide the X-Men indefinitely.
