Sign in to your TheGamer account Marvel Rivals has a lot of problems, but arguably the most frustrating is the abundance of throwers and leavers in both quickplay and ranked. Have a bad start to a match and lose a few fights in a row? You can bet there's at least one massive crybaby out there that will leave the game and have you all waiting for the match to end before you can actually start playing properly again. Having reported countless people leaving in the middle of ranked matches, it can feel like NetEase isn't doing much to try and dissuade people from doing so. Thankfully, that looks set to change starting from today, as the developer has announced that it's going to start dishing out harsher penalties for leavers and throwers. Marvel Rivals Is Cracking Down On Crybabies Unfortunately, NetEase doesn't go into specifics, but it does say that it will be "increasing the severity" of penalties. Currently, you're made to wait fifteen minutes before being allowed to queue again if the game's system detects you've left too many matches in a row. So, if the penalties are now getting more severe, we could see maybe half an hour bans incoming. "We are increasing the severity of penalties for being inactive, throwing, and leaving matches early," reads the announcement. "As the number of violations increases, the offending player will face increasingly longer matchmaking suspensions. For recurring behaviors that persistently ruin the gameplay experience of others, we will implement even stricter disciplinary measures. The announcement also explains that Quick Play is getting is own ban system separate from Arcade Mode (it used to be shared), and the penalties for leaving will also be increased. It's a much-needed change, though whether this will actually fix the number of throwers and leavers currently in the game, only time will tell.
