Season 10 of Marvel Rivals is focusing less on new characters, and more on new features than past content drops the hero shooter has seen. With the arrival of Gorr the God Butcher, players are also still adjusting to the massive changes from the prior Season. As a result, there are more buffs and nerfs in Season 10 than some past Seasons combined, with many character adjustments to explore. The Team-Up changes in Season 9 were incredibly extensive in Marvel Rivals, giving every hero a set of abilities to choose from, like loadouts. This shook up the established systems of power within the game, with players desperately trying to learn who was strong or weak in the new balance format. Developers have made Season 10 the first big patch following the changes, affecting around 70% of the roster. Every Season 10 Character Buff Explained Multiple Characters Receiving Another Wave Of Much-Needed Improvements Unlike previous patches, there are fewer buffs than nerfs this time around, as the developers behind Marvel Rivals are trying to temper character strengths following the new Team-Ups. That being said, some heroes that have been buffed multiple times in the past are getting enhanced again, hopefully modifying them to match the strongest characters in the game. Some familiar faces will appear in both buffs and nerfs, showing how extensive the balance patch is. There are no buffs dependent on roles for Season 10, meaning that Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists don't get anything new for their universal tool kits. Characters from every role are getting buffs this Season, though there are a few characters that aren't getting any adjustments. While Venom or Daredevil players like me have no patch notes to look at for their characters, there are plenty more that affect the match-ups those heroes have to deal with. If your character isn't on the patch list, you still may want to pay attention to how other characters got stronger. The table below lists all the character buffs in Season 10, including how their Team-Up options may have changed: Character Role Buff(s) Deadpool Vanguard Adjusted maximum damage falloff for Dual Desert Eagles Adjusted maximum damage falloff for Dual Desert Eagles — Upgraded Increased healing gained during The Ban Hammer (Ultimate) Incrased Bonus Health gained when releasing The Ban Hammer (Ultimate) Increased Bonus Health gained during The Big Test (Ultimate) Reduced experience required for every "Upgrade!" to 75% of original values Captain America Vanguard Increased base health from 300 to 350 Removed Vibranium Energy Saw bounce damage falloff (With Thor Team-Up) Increased Voltaic Union ability duration (With Winter Soldier Team-Up) Slightly increased movement speed after Stars Aligned Doctor Strange Vanguard Increased Daggers of Denak projectile speed Reduced attack interval between casts of Daggers of Denak (With Hulk Team-Up) Removed Gamma Maelstrom spell field damage falloff Devil Dinosaur Vanguard Increased Bleed duration stacked on enemies per Impact Beam hit Increased Bleed damage over top from all abilities that apply it (With The Punisher Team-Up) Increased Primal Punishment projectile speed Emma Frost Vanguard Increased base health from 650 to 675 Increased the range of Telepathic Pulse ability Increased Carbon Crush ability dash distance Character Role Buff(s) Rogue Vanguard Increased Regenerative Shield capacity from 250 to 275 Increased Energy regeneration speed while Defensive Stance is inactive Increased Energy consumption speed while Defensive Stance is active Increased maximum health gained when Ability Absorption is used on a Vanguard Thor Vanguard Increased base health from 300 to 325 Increased damage to enemies crossing the boundary for Lightning Realm (With Angela Team-Up) Reduced Divine Armory ability cooldown Peni Parker Vanguard Reduced Cyber-Web Cluster firing interval (attack speed) Removed the self-slow effect when firing Cyber-Web Clusters (With Black Panther Team-Up) Reduced Vibranium Mech cooldown time (Enhanced Black Panther Team-Up) Reduced Cyber-Web Cluster firing interval Groot Vanguard Increased Bonus Health gained when awakening an Ironwood Wall The Hood Vanguard (With Moon Knight Team-Up) Increased detection range for Lunar Barrier bullets Black Cat Duelist Phantom Pursuit now grants 50% Damage Reduction and Unstoppable Reduced Fortune consumed to cast Phantom Pursuit from 300 to 250 Increased Helmet of Hades duration and adjusted its Movement Boost decay (With Black Panther Team-Up) With Team-Up ability, now gain Fortune on hit Character Role Buff(s) Blade Duelist (With Captain America Team-Up) Gain 2 more max stacks of Bloodline Awakening (Enhanced CA Team-Up) Increased extra Bloodline Awakening stacks from 2 to 4 Deadpool Duelist Reduced experience required for every "Upgrade!" to 75% of original values Increased Dual Desert Eagles - Scarlet Witch has gained multiple new abilities from the patch, drastically altering how the character plays. That alone probably makes her the hero impacted by the changes the most, but every character mentioned has something interesting to check out, whether it's a quality-of-life adjustment or a tweaked ability. Every Season 10 Character Nerf Explained General Changes Impact All Roles Along With Individual Characters Along with the character nerfs in Season 10, all characters are being universally changed with a significant decrease in Ultimate-based power. Strategists gain less Energy needed for their Ultimate ability by healing allies, with Vanguards and Duelists can't acquire as much Energy as they could before for damaging foes. This makes Ultimate skills less frequent during matches, encouraging players to use other tools from heroes to beat out enemy teams. Despite this sweeping nerf, there are plenty of characters that have been targeted in this patch individually. New characters like The Hood in Marvel Rivals run the greatest risk of being nerfed, as they've gone through less testing compared to heroes who've been around for longer. Check out the table below to see which characters are getting a little weaker in Season 10: Character Role Nerf(s) Angela Vanguard (With Loki Team-Up) Reduced the max damage illusions can take Magneto Vanguard Reduced base health from 650 to 600 Reduced Metal Bulwark and Iron Bulwark shield values (With Scarlet Witch Team-Up) Increased Metallic Chaos cooldown (With Scarlet Witch Team-Up) Reduced Chaos Greatsword spell field damage (With Enhanced Scarlet Witch) Reduced Mag-Cannon single projectile damage The Hood Vanguard Reduced base health from 600 to 550 Increased Mantle of Oblivion cooldown time Reduced Abyssal Veil Damage Reduction ratio against enemy projectiles Reduced damage to Bonus Health conversion during Demon of the End The Thing Vanguard Reduced base health from 750 to 725 Adjusted Stone Haymaker damage against enemy max health Increased Yancy Street Charge cooldown time Reduced spell field duration from Yancy Street Charge ability (With Human Torch Team-Up) Increased Two-in-One cooldown (With Human Torch Team-Up) Reduced Two-In-One ability duration Black Cat Duelist Removed the invincibility effect from Phantom Pursuit Reduced Fortune gained when using Phantom Pursuit and hitting enemies Helmet of Hades now shows Black Cat's movement trail Helmet of Hades now periodically shows Black Cat's full form Increased the volume of Black Cat's footstep sound effects Character Role Nerf(s) Black Widow Duelist Adjusted max damage falloff for Red Room Rifle attacks Increased the Energy cost of Assassin's Focus (Ultimate) Magik Duelist (With The Hood Team-Up) Increased Void Pentagram cooldown time (With The Hoood Enhanced) Reduced Limbo Demon health boost Elsa Bloodstone Duelist Adjusted Monster Piercer damage per shot to for less overall damage Reduced Bonus Health gained after casting Helix Advance Reduced Bonus Health gained after casting Ruthless Pursuit (With Devil Dinosaur Team-Up) Increased Smoky Snare cooldown Iron Fist Duelist (With The Thing Team-Up) Increased Team-Up skill cooldown Mister Fantastic Duelist (With The Thing Team-Up) Removed Launch effect from fully charged punch Character Role Nerf(s) Winter Soldier Duelist Increased time required for a single charge of Tainted Voltage Reduced slow effect applied upon Tainted Voltage hitting an enemy (With Elsa Bloodstone Team-Up) Reduced Bonus Health generated when active Wolverine Duelist Bonus Health provided by Regenerative Healing Factor is now a fixed value Rage no longer applies to Bonus Health from Regenerative Healing Factor Psylocke Duelist Slightly reduced Psionic Crossbow projectile spread Scarlet Witch Duelist Reduced Chaos Control damage in exchange for new effect Dark Seal now only stuns once instead of periodically Reduced movement speed boost gained during Mystic Projection (With Jubilee Team-Up) Reduced healing received during Mystic Projection Gambit Strategist (With Magneto Team-Up) Favorable Odds only triggers Launch effect once Character Role Nerf(s) Invisible Woman Strategist Reduced Orb Projection healing on return Cloak & Dagger Strategist In Cloak form, reduced the Vulnerable effect applied to enemies by Terror Cape In Dagger form, reduced the area healing provided by Lightforce Dagger hits (With Luna Snow Team-Up) Reduced Frozen Haven ice shield duration Mantis Strategist Increased charge time for a single Life Orb (With Star-Lord Team-Up) Reduced Healing Flower healing amount (With Star-Lord Enhanced) Reduced Healing Flower healing amount Luna Snow Strategist (With White Fox Team-Up) Removed self-cleanse effect with spirit fox Ultron Strategist Reduced Bonus Heath provided to Ultron from Imperative: Firewall Reduced Bonus Health provided to nearby allies from Imperative: Firewall Vanguards like Magneto and The Hood took the biggest hits this Season, but other problem characters got much-needed adjustments too. For example, Cloak & Dagger's very strong Team-Up with Luna Snow was nerfed, making the Strategist's survivability a little weaker than it was before. Although the nerfs weren't too extensive compared to the buffs, these reductions in power may hopefully bring the balance players want. Gorr's arrival will undoubtedly force more balance changes in Season 10.5, but thankfully, that part of the Season doesn't have to worry about another character release. With any luck, Marvel Rivals will only get more balanced at that half-way point, introducting needed buffs and nerfs that address player concerns.
