Marvel Officially Names Thor's Replacement As New Ruler Of Asgard

Asgard's new ruler is one of Thor's cruelest and most powerful villains. Though Thor and Odin traditionally share the throne, ruling Asgard requires far more than royal blood in Marvel Comics. Odin established that standard over thousands of years, leading Asgard through wars against Celestials, Frost Giants, Dark Gods, and countless cosmic threats. Thor has inherited the throne several times across both Marvel's main continuity and alternate futures, though Balder has also served as king during periods when Odin or Thor could not rule, and Loki has usurped the throne through deception on multiple occasions. The Midgard Serpent Jörmungandr is Thor's destined foe, and each confrontation carries apocalyptic consequences. Other major Thor villains like Gorr the God Butcher, Cul Borson, and the victim-turned-supervillain Donald Blake have all put Asgard in peril. Thor regularly confronts opponents capable of altering the balance of the whole Marvel Universe, and only under specific circumstances does the God of Thunder fail to protect his realm. The Enchantress Becomes Asgard's All-Mother The Mortal Thor #13; Written By Al Ewing; Art By Juann Cabal & Matt Milla Amora the Enchantress moves her chess pieces to create what might be Marvel's single best issue of 2026 in The Mortal Thor #13. Taking advantage of Magni's grief over the late Blackjack O'Hare, Enchantress follows Magni's order to let him rule Asgard from his throne room. Magni spends over a century locked in the All-Father's room until he realizes he can't exit it. Forever and a day after locking himself in, the Enchantress simply opens the door, removes Magni's decayed skeleton, and declares herself Asgard's All-Mother. As Asgard's All-Mother, Amora may rely on her manipulation skills to create strategic alliances and consolidate her authority beyond the reach of Odin and Thor's power. The Enchantress' magical influence could allow her to circumvent any contingencies preventing a new ruler from rewriting Asgard's rules. Her sheer charisma could encourage decisions that strengthen her own position. At the same time, Donald Blake's secret actions on Earth could erode the fragile balance between the realms and create a crisis that Asgard's new leadership may fail to recognize until it has grown into a full-scale catastrophe. The Enchantress Makes Her Case For Thor's New Archnemesis Amora Is Cunning Like Few Other Thor Enemies Powerful villains like Surtur and the Black Winters may be strong enough to destroy Asgard with direct physical or magical attacks, but devious characters like Loki and Enchantress provide a threat like no other. Nobody in Asgard may ever know the torment Magni suffered across millions of years, all within the span of real-time minutes or hours. From the Enchantress' perspective, Magni simply turned into a skeleton almost instantly, but from Magni's perspective, he lived longer than the Marvel Universe's primordial entities locked up in the same room, losing his memory and sense of self. What's worse is that the reason why Magni became vulnerable to Amora's enchantment also appears to be part of the Enchantress' plan. In The Mortal Thor #8, the Enchantress received a special bow and arrow from the Olympian goddess Athena to assassinate Blackjack O'Hare from an impossible distance. Amora topples the Asgardian throne without breaking a sweat or shooting a single direct magical attack towards Magni, who probably spends most of his nigh-eternal lifetime unable to remember who locked him in his throne room.
