After Eddie's brief but taxing stint controlling Carnage and his failed attempt at retiring from battle, Eddie Brock embraces his role as Venom's other half. Meanwhile, Mary Jane Watson steps back from symbiote matters and returns to the entertainment industry. In Your Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane, MJ becomes a producer and the CEO of Watson Productions, though she also needs to be wary of supervillain threats like Chameleon. Covers for Venom #1 confirm that Eddie Brock's bond with the titular symbiote will revert Venom's appearance back to his original black-and-white palette. J. Scott Campbell's main cover for Your Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane #1 depicts MJ snapping her fingers, with a small trace of symbiote coming out of them. She also wears a T-shirt featuring Venom's face. Their black-and-gold palette is unique among symbiotes, and their physical appearance only evolved closer to perfection with the addition of long gold boots, a loose hairtsyle, and a slimmer, more recognizable physique that made Mary Jane's role as Venom's host more evident. However, Venom and MJ's team-up is ending sooner than expected, and they're confirmed to return to their traditional dynamics before the year ends. Although major events like Mary Jane's bond with Venom, Hulk's transformation into the Infernal Hulk, and Red Hulk's takeover of Latveria and planet Earth are bound to conclude, a return to the status quo doesn't need to overlook the consequences of those changes. Mary Jane may retain her connection to Venom, or perhaps develop a symbiote offspring of her own, similarly to Cletus Casady and Carnage.
