Marvel Is Officially Going All-In on Doctor Doom Ahead of 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Victor von Doom is at the center of oversized one-shots, crossover events, alternate adventures, and even unexpected team-ups that stretch from Hell to Formula One racing and Godzilla-sized battles. Looking across the full slate, it becomes clear that Marvel is putting more attention on Doom than almost any other character in its lineup. With Avengers: Doomsday drawing closer, the publisher is making sure readers have no shortage of reasons to spend time with the future cinematic big bag. Doctor Doom has become one of the publisher's defining characters, capable of anchoring a wide range of stories without feeling out of place. That's especially notable with Doomsday on the horizon. The oversized one-shot follows Doom into Hell for what Marvel describes as his greatest challenge yet. As Victor fights Mephisto for the freedom of his mother's soul, he also battles the entire Marvel Universe across 50 widescreen, landscape-oriented splash pages, making it one of the publisher's most ambitious single-issue releases in recent memory. But Doom's presence doesn't stop there. Doomquest #5 continues Ryan North's reality-spanning adventure by placing Doom's consciousness inside Susan Storm at the exact moment Galactus arrives on Earth, creating one of the series' strangest scenarios yet. Black Panther/Namor: Doomed #2 sends T'Challa and Namor on a journey into Hell to confront Doom, while Iron Man: Racing Towards Doom #1 pits Tony Stark against the Latverian ruler in a Formula One-inspired adventure featuring Atlassian Williams Racing drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. Even books that aren't centered on Doom still bring him into the spotlight. Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse #4 includes Victor as part of the desperate alliance trying to stop the King of the Monsters, while Avengers: Armageddon #5 continues the publisher's biggest event with Doom remaining one of its central players.
