Somehow, Felicia Hardy is accompanying Peter, and the cover features caged animals that suggest Oscorp is experimenting on a wide variety of species. These are all key elements in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man movies, where Oscorp took center stage in the origin of both Spider-Man and all his known enemies, with Felicia Hardy as the Osborns' right-hand woman. Midnight Spider-Man #1 also mixes these familiar details with new and old origin story elements. The scene of Peter Parker speaking with Uncle Ben resembles Peter's flashbacks from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, where Ben's car is flooded with white light. One detail not seen in any of the live-action movies is the technological devices seen on the street: police drones hovering above pedestrians, holographic glasses, and chest-mounted hologram-projecting devices appear to be everyday tech in this continuity, and they may play an essential role in Midnight Spider-Man's story later down the line.
