Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelifted Baleno with a new Z12E petrol engine, bringing improved claimed fuel efficiency of up to 7.9 per cent, alongside styling and feature upgrades.Maruti Suzuki recently launched the facelifted Baleno in India with a new Z12E petrol engine, bringing improved fuel efficiency along with a host of cosmetic and feature updates. The new Baleno is priced from Rs 6.09 lakh (ex-showroom), while bookings are now open for Rs 11,000.The new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine produces 83bhp at 5,700rpm and 112.4Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. It comes with idle start-stop technology and Dual VVT, and can be paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or AMT.With the manual gearbox, the new Baleno returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.80kmpl, which is a 6.4 per cent improvement over the outgoing model. The AGS version is even more efficient, delivering 24.77kmpl, an improvement of 7.9 per cent compared to its predecessor.The efficiency gains extend to the CNG version as well. The Baleno S-CNG continues with a five-speed manual gearbox and the new Z12E engine, delivering a claimed 33.61km/kg. This represents a 9.8 per cent improvement over the outgoing model. Apart from the new powertrain, the facelifted Baleno gets a redesigned front end with a new grille, a revised bumper and chrome-finished fender garnish. It is also available with a new Enigmatic Teal colour option.The biggest update, however, is the addition of Level 2 ADAS, making the Baleno the first car in its segment to get the technology. The system uses a combination of radar and camera and offers features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and prevention, and advanced emergency braking.
