Martinez loves to dye his hair.. and based on Chelsea’s topsy-turvy Brighton thriller he may need it to cover his greys

THERE’S a new goalkeeper, but it will appear in the same old hole in Chelsea. This team certainly look better, they’re much more physical, more intense than under Enzo Maresca or Liam Rosenior last season. One thing to note as well, the Chelsea fans here in Stamford Bridge singing Alonso’s name loudly – they never did that for Maresca or Rosenior. But while there are clear improvements – and the front three again, as they were at Fulham, were devastating – that same old ability to throw games away in an instant is there. Bringing Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson in to help build the standards is all well and good, but if they’re not on the pitch, they can’t help there. This team is not the finished article. It was a weird starting XI – James on the bench, with Malo Gusto in midfield. They were well ahead, but they managed to throw it away again. If they play like they did in the first half, there’ll be title talk. If they play like they did around the end of the first half and the shaky moments in the second half, God knows what we’ll all be going through here at Stamford Bridge this season.
