Marshals Will Officially Return For Season 2 This Fall

2 min readMarshals may not have won over critics with its debut season, but the Yellowstone spinoff certainly hit with audiences. The weekly CBS law enforcement drama starring Luke Grimes garnered 30.6 million viewers in its first month on the air, per Variety, and now Marshals is looking to rack up even higher view counts in the second half of 2026. According to the network, Marshals is set to return for season 2 on October 4.There’s no official logline for the upcoming season just yet. For now, all we know is that season 2 will pick up immediately following the season 1 finale cliff-hanger that left just about every character for dead. Kayce Dutton (Grimes) spurned rival rancher Tom Weaver (Chris Mulkey) when he refused to sell him the last remaining patch of the Yellowstone Ranch. So, Weaver retaliated with force. He kidnapped Kayce’s son, Tate (Brecken Merill). Weaver’s henchmen opened fire on his fellow U.S. Marshals, and he left his (potential honeypot) daughter Dolly (Ellyn Jameson) to keep our Dutton hero distracted.Gilles MingassonLuke Grimes is already filming Marshals season 2.“Marshals delivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself as one of TV’s most powerful new series,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach wrote in a statement to the press in April when the series was renewed for season 2. “The overwhelming viewer response speaks to the strength of the Yellowstone world, the bold character-driven storytelling from the creative team and the dynamic cast performances led by Luke Grimes.”There’s no still word yet on any potential crossover with Dutton Ranch. The second Yellowstone sequel series, which stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, also wrapped up its first season this year. However, Dutton Ranch doesn’t plan on returning to film season 2 until February, according to Reilly. So, I wouldn’t hold your breath. But if Marshals season 2 is anywhere near the surprise hit as it was before, then I can’t imagine having to wait much longer for the much-anticipated reunion.Until then, we’ll see Grimes and his team back in action for Marshals season 2 on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
