Married for just 2 months, man kills wife in UP, calls police himself

A 29-year-old woman was murdered by her husband in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district amid a domestic dispute, just nearly two months after the duo had a love marriage, according to the police. The man himself informed the police about the crime and confessed his role, the police said.He has been taken into custody for questioning. The victim has been identified as Sapna alias Aasma. She was living in a rented house with her husband, Gajendra Sankhwar (30), who is a mason.Around 10:30 AM on Sunday, Sapna was talking to someone on her mobile phone.Suddenly, a dispute broke out between her and Gajendra over some issue. The argument quickly escalated to the point that the accused picked up an iron rod and struck his wife on the head, the police said. Severely injured by the blow, Sapna fell to the ground in a blood-soaked state. Following this, Gajendra himself informed the police that he had murdered his wife. Upon arriving at the scene, the police rushed Sapna to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.The police have taken Gajendra into custody and have initiated an interrogation. Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Prasad said the couple had had a court marriage nearly two months ago.
