Marryam joined Couples Therapy as its lead therapist and psychotherapist when it launched in 2022 but quit the show to take her new role on Married At First Sight. He told the Daily Mail: “It’s a little bittersweet because, you know, with Mel not being here now, it’s sort of difficult at times. “But, you know, we are flying the Married At First Sight flag.” Following Mel’s death in March, John told fans he was “finding it hard to breathe”. He said at the time: “I am heartbroken, devastated and finding it hard to breathe. “It was a privilege and an honour to sit beside her on the MAFS couch and watch her shine. Most read in TV “She was warm, supportive and honest, and she deeply cared about all our participants. “I had a front row seat to her remarkable skills and she truly believed in the experiment. At her core she loved love.” John stepped in to film Married At First Sight UK after Mel’s was too unwell to continue.
