MARKS & SPENCER is offering customers a new way to bag its baked goods – and it comes at a massive discount. The surprise bags will be rolled out to more than 300 stores across the nation. Through the Too Good To Go app, surprise bundles of three to four M&S bakery items will be offered from Monday to Saturday, around one hour before stores close. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Priced at just £3.80, each bag will contain surplus items worth a minimum of £10.20 – offering shoppers an almost 40 per cent discount on baked goods. The nationwide rollout follows a successful trial in a number of M&S stores over the past few months, which was brought in an effort to reduce food waste. Lucinda Langton, head of sustainability at M&S Food, said that the new partnership helped ensure less goods were wasted and “more of our food is enjoyed”. She added: “The response from our trial stores has been outstanding, and this partnership is another positive step towards our goal of halving food waste by 2030.” Coming to 350 M&S stores across the UK, Too Good To Go has already partnered with other major supermarkets including Aldi and Morrisons. With more than 120million registered users and 200,000 partners across 20 countries, the company claims to be “world’s largest marketplace for surplus food”.
