Marks & Spencer confirms opening date for 9,000 sq ft seaside store inside an old MOT garage

M&S has confirmed an opening date for a 9,000 sq ft seaside store located in an old MOT garage. The posh nosh maker is opening a food branch in Largs, a town on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, Scotland on August 13 The new store will open in the seaside town Credit: Getty It means punters will only have a couple of weeks to wait before they can tuck in to its famous Percy Pigs and other treats. The new store will be located on the site of the former Pearson’s garage on Main Street, according to a report in Largs and Millport News. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Locals are buzzing for the opening of the store with many saying they “can’t wait”. Plans for the site were first lodged with the local council in October 2021, and the project has been in the works for five years. Alongside stocking up on their favourite M&S grub, shoppers can also avail of a new click and collect feature. Store manager Mhairi McIntosh said: “It’s nearly time to open the doors in Largs, and we’re delighted to be joining the local community. “Our store is packed with the very best of M&S Food, showcasing our great quality across everything from our Select Farms produce to our delicious in‑store bakery.” The chain has also opened two new city centre full-line stores at Bath Southgate this February and at Bristol’s Cabot Circus last November. Most read in Money M&S Food branches in Hatfield, Luton, Farnham, Oxfordshire and Surrey have all recently opened their doors. That includes its biggest ever standalone food store at the site of a former Homebase in Godalming. M&S has also set its sights on a new food branch in Littlehampton after a planning application for a new retail park was given the go ahead. Comment now
