Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Mark Cuban's private-equity firm has purchased a minority stake in the Athletics, culminating Cuban's longstanding desire to obtain an ownership stake in a baseball club while giving the Athletics a long-sought-after minority owner. Harbinger Sports Partners, led by Cuban and Atlanta Falcons minority owner Rashaun Williams, have secured their first ownership deal, though no specifics of the deal have been released. Forbes has put the value of the Athletics, set to move to a $2 billion ballpark in Las Vegas in 2028, in the middle third of 30 MLB teams at approximately $2 billion. Cuban, 67, remains a minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks after previously being majority owner of the club from 2000-2023. In addition to holding interests in an esports betting platform (Unikrn) and the Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League, Cuban helped launch Harbinger in May of 2025. Harbinger is actively courting deals with other sports teams and expects to announce more deals in the near future. The organization also boasts former sports executives Jonathan Mariner (MLB) and Steve Cannon (Falcons) among its leadership. --Field Level Media
