Mark Adderley and Nadia Sawalha: A clarification

IN articles published on May 8, 9 and 11, 2026, we reported that Mark Adderley had been suspended from the Green Party after he “reportedly shared videos celebrating the horrific October 7 attacks by Hamas”. We wish to clarify that Mr Adderley’s suspension related to comments he made regarding the Bondi Beach terrorist attack in Sydney, Australia. The reference to sharing material celebrating the October 7 attacks concerned a different Green Party candidate. There is no suggestion that Nadia Sawalha endorsed the statements and videos wrongly said to have been shared by him. Mr Adderley was elected as a Green Party councillor for Croydon in May 2026.
