Marcos unveils upgraded Lucena port terminal, boosting regional travel

Photos courtesy of Malacañang Press Corps pool MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said the newly upgraded Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at the Port of Lucena in Quezon would make travel more convenient for around 500,000 passengers annually. The port serves as Southern Luzon’s primary roll-on/roll-off gateway, linking mainland Luzon to Marinduque and neighboring island provinces. In a brief statement after inspecting the facility, Marcos said the project is expected to boost tourism, trade, and local economic activity across the Calabarzon and Mimaropa regions while supporting transport operators, shipping lines, restaurants, retail establishments, and other local businesses. “Good for the farmers of the region, good for Lucena, good for all the surrounding parts,” he said. “We also have facilities in place in case there are stranded individuals. As we know, typhoons are becoming more frequent nowadays,” he also said. Article continues after this advertisement Aside from inspecting the upgraded port terminal, Marcos also awarded Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) to 100 additional beneficiaries in Lucena City under the expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program. The COEs represent an important step toward the processing of land titles and the formal recognition of beneficiaries’ rights to the land allocated to them.
