Marcos awards over P160M in scholarship funds in Cagayan

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. FILE PHOTO TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday led the distribution of checks worth over P160 million in educational and other funding for the beneficiaries of Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program in Cagayan province during his visit here. The distribution was held at the sports coliseum here. The President also gave P9.2 million for the barangays of Tuguegarao City and was received by Mayor Maila Ting-Que. In a brief meeting with student-scholars, Marcos urged them to excel in their studies and maximize the opportunity to contribute to the country’s development. Each barangay gets P200,000. Under the guidelines, P100,000 of the allocation will fund educational scholarships for local college students. The remaining P100,000 will be used for essential grassroots infrastructure, either for public service equipment procurement, office system upgrades, street lighting, or disaster risk reduction and management initiatives. Article continues after this advertisement During the event, the provincial government of Cagayan also gave 10 kilos of rice to each of the 3,000 individuals who belong to the vulnerable sectors in the province. In his sortie, Marcos was joined by House Speaker Faustino Dy III, Governor Edgar Aglipay, Isabela Rep.
